STAR: Study of Antiretroviral Resistance, Pharmacokinetics and Reservoir Characteristics in HIV Prevention and Treatment Settings
The STAR study enrolls individuals receiving antiretrovirals (ARVs) for HIV treatment or prevention:
- Individuals receiving antiretrovirals (ARVs) for HIV prevention are enrolled into the SeroPrEP Group.
- Individuals receiving antiretrovirals for HIV treatment (ART) are enrolled into the VIOLA Group.
Individuals who wish to enroll must meet the following group-specific criteria:
SeroPrEP Group
Individuals receiving PrEP for HIV prevention may be eligible if they meet the following criteria:
- Age >=18 years
- One or more HIV tests (e.g RNA, Ag/Ab) suggesting that HIV acquisition has occurred
- Use or receipt of
Long-Acting PrEP (such as Apretude or Yeztugo) in the last 18 months
or
Oral PrEP (such as Descovy or Truvada) in the last 3 months
VIOLA Group
Individuals receiving long-acting ART for HIV treatment may be eligible if they meet the following criteria:
Age >=18 years
One or more HIV RNA (viral load) tests with ≥ 100 copies/ml after receipt of at least 2 doses of long-acting ART for HIV treatment (such as Cabenuva or Sunlenca)
Willing and able to provide informed consent
*The STAR Study enrolls participants from all 50 U.S. states and Puerto Rico.
